Snakes and Ladders

With support from Arts Council England and HAPPEN Sally Annett is developing a trail to help link isolated rural and urban communities.

About the project

The project will take place across eleven communities in the West of Bedford Borough and cross into Milton Keynes Unitary Council. These communities are linked by the Marston Vale Train Line, as well as the new A421, cycle ways, foot and bridle paths. A main focus for artworks will be the following railway stations.

  • Bedford Station
  • Bedford St.Johns
  • Kempston Hardwick
  • Stewartby
  • Millbrook and Marston Mortaine
  • Lidlington
  • Ridgmont
  • Aspley Guise
  • Woburn Sands
  • Bow Brickhill
  • Fenny Stratford
  • Bletchley

Community engagement

Taking a mobile art space into each location, Sally Annett hopes to engage audiences at community sites such as schools and faith centres, and use these interactions as the starting point for the creation of new artworks.

Notes: Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
